Job Profile

The company is seeking a Production Supervisor who will do the following functions-

  • Organize and manage all production and related activities in the assigned production area.
  • Supervise the production team members in implementing work processes, ensuring the production proceeds smoothly.
  • Responsible for team building, developing team leadership skills, and assessing and coaching Team Leaders and Team Members in optimizing resources in the most efficient manner consistent with standard work procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and safety parameters.
  • Additionally, be responsible for ensuring company policies are followed.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a College (or equivalent) or higher education

Work Experience

  • Possess 2 or more years of production management experience
  • Work experience in the automotive parts industry (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

Materials Management-

  • Assists the Area Manager with consolidating and analyzing inventory discrepancy data, and coaches Team Leaders on increasing their analytical skills. Compiles discrepancies into a line inventory report, and participates in improving inventory data accuracy (G2).
  • Be in charge of the management of your line’s MRO, and optimize the usage.
  • Ensures that production components and MRO are properly issued and recovered, and coordinates the handling of any abnormalities.

Quality Management-

  • Analyzes any major quality problems, systematically resolve the problem, and prevent its recurrence (G2).
  • Coordinates the various department resources, and assists the Area Manager in meeting the department’s quality objectives (G2).
  • Drafts the production line’s quality document (G2).
  • Ensures that production is organized in accordance with the related quality documents in the production line.
  • Guides Team Leaders in raising their quality awareness and in carrying out quality tasks.
  • Leads the implementation of quality control checks and related quality‐control activities.
  • Leads the team in discovering any hidden quality issues and analyzing any abnormalities. Formulates action plans to resolve the issues, and push for improvements across the board.

Operation Management-

  • Analyzes abnormal production indicators, drafts reports, and implements the improvement plan (G2).
  • Cascades the monthly and yearly production targets, monitors, and tracks progress (G2).
  • In the early stages of a new product launch, coordinates the resources needed and help to resolve problems.
  • Offers advice and opinions on the process flow design for new projects (G2).
  • Participates in the drafting of the BOS/IBR reports (G2).
  • Participates in the drafting, auditing, and updating of production process documents, operating standards, and other related documentation.2
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of team members to meet production schedules and to hold them accountable for their performance.
  • Supervises the team members in safety and standard operations, coordinating resources to handle production abnormalities promptly.

Environmental Health/Safety Management-

  • Be the person in charge of safety in your designated area of the factory on your shift.
  • Drafts the production line’s safety document (G2).
  • Investigates reports and communicates all accidents, injuries or illness, and near misses. Analyzes and systematically resolves the problem and prevents its recurrence (G2).
  • Leads by example and reinforces safety practices while enforcing Tenneco safety policies.
  • Leads the team in creating a safe working environment by organizing and holding monthly safety meetings for safety education, risk assessment, accident investigations, and other related safety activities, increasing safety awareness.
  • Leads the team in discovering and eliminating any hidden dangers in the production line.

Equipment Management-

  • Assists in the audit of the equipment and fixtures for new projects.
  • Assists the Area Manager and equipment/process engineers to update and complete the TPM Checklist according to production needs and equipment conditions (G2).
  • Coordinates resources to drive improvements for the equipment and tooling.
  • Directs the maintenance and management of equipment and fixtures.
  • Proposes and drafts improvements for the equipment and tooling for the launch period of new projects (G2).

5S Process-

  • Builds an (N+1)S demonstration cell (G2)
  • Champions the 5S process and ensures standards are achieved/maintained and continue to improve.

Continuous Improvement-

  • Assists the Area Manager to complete various section improvement goals (G2).
  • Be in charge of performance improvement and cost leadership plans for the line.
  • Leads the team by applying continuous improvement tools to the production area. (G2).
  • Leads the team to accomplish yearly goals.
  • Promoter and person‐in‐charge of the Lean Manufacturing improvement activities.

Employee Development-

  • Be aware of the team members’ condition. Communicate frequently, ensuring stability in your team. Promptly report issues to the Area/Production Manager and the HR department if necessary.
  • Coaches T3 Team Leaders on their day‐to‐day work (G2).
  • Develops support and monitors activities that foster teamwork and engagement within the group.
  • Implements in‐house training for the Team Leaders (G2).
  • Interviews and approves new hiring when required.
  • Plans and implements training of multiple skills for the team members. Provides timely and effective feedback to team members.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • The ability to operate, troubleshoot, make minor adjustments or perform preventive maintenance on metal bending, welding, forming, fabrication, and assembly equipment would be beneficial.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to read and write in English is preferred
  • Familiar with the use of MS Office software.
  • Must have the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram forms.
  • Must possess the knowledge to read, write, and perform basic math skills (including basic algebra, fractions, and geometry).
  • Understanding of lean production and 5S.
  • Experience in the effective use of quality control gauges/equipment, inventory systems, blueprint interpretation, computer applications, and SPC charting where applicable.
