Job Profile
The company is looking for a Production Supervisor who will supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products by performing the following duties.
Oversees the Finishing – RCA Department and reports out to the leadership team on production activities, improvements, and production schedules.
Education Level
- Associate Degree, 2-year certificate from college or technical school
Work Experience
- 3 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Manufacturing experience (required)
- Investment Castings experience (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
Essential Roles-
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Computes the amount of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from the storage area.
- Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
- Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
- Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assigns duties.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Plans the flow of materials through the department and develops the physical layout of machines according to work orders.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.
Supervisory Roles
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities under the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Directly supervises employees.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
Work Environment
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold.
- Occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
