Job Profile
The company is looking for a Project Designer who will be responsible for preparing equipment and piping system drawing packages which include a technical layout with multiple views, detail drawings, Schematics, and assembly drawings.
Work closely with customers, vendors, and manufacturing to develop job-specific drawings for sales and pre-sales documentation and representation of our products.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a 2-year Degree/Certificate in Mechanical Drafting/Design or equivalent (college/university)
- In some cases, equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
Work Experience
- Possess 2 to 5 years of working with mechanical piping systems and equipment
- 5 years of industry experience with Autodesk Inventor, Vault, or other 3D design software
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to import existing 3D models or generate new 3D equipment models as needed to complete the system layouts.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Complete new custom system designs based on specific customer requirements.
- Design new piping system layouts for customer orders based on a variation of existing standard layouts
- Prepare drawings which include technical layout, multiple views, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, and system schematics
- Provides customer support on issues relating to system layouts.
- Understands and uses CAD system variables and executes all required menu or customized changes.
- Uses effective interpersonal skills and effectively interfaces with others inside and outside the Company as required.
- Utilize Autocad, Inventor, or other software to generate 2D and 3D piping systems as well as system schematics.
- Utilizes company network and software platforms as a part of normal daily activities.
- Works closely with customers, vendors, and manufacturers to obtain information and ensure the design meets the intent of the specification, customer installation and layout requirements, and current manufacturing guidelines.
- Works to obtain thorough and relevant product and system knowledge.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers
- Ability to understand the objectives of projects and communicate effectively to complete tasks
- Ability to work in a normal office and a development lab environment with running equipment
- Able to solve problems and meet deadlines consistently and with a high degree of accuracy
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Imaginative and creative
- Knowledge of machining processes, sheet metal fabrication, welding, materials, HVAC systems, industrial piping, and pressure vessels (a plus)
- Possess a very sound working knowledge of mechanical systems
- Understanding mechanical and HVAC industry submittal and sales process (a plus)
Physical Requirements
- Occasional travel to manufacturing sites (may be required)
- Contacts, to ascertain the needs of other departments, or to make substantial adjustments to working arrangements
- Work involves fairly light and simple types of physical exertion

- Normal plant, shop, field, or office conditions
- From time to time, slightly disagreeable features
- Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions
