Job Profile
The company is hiring a Prototype Lab Technician II who will be part of its Industrial team working as an on-site employee.
Education Level
- 2-year Technology or related Associate Degree or Equivalent (college/university)
Work Experience
- 3+ years of experience providing technical service or engineering support in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience performing and documenting testing procedures, failure analysis, and troubleshooting.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Build engineering prototypes to completion with hydraulic routings, wiring harnesses, and decals.
- Build prototypes and new products; communicate all issues discovered with the project lead engineer. Coordinate piece parts through manufacturing and purchasing departments.
- Build, set up, program, conduct tests/experiments, and document results as required while following the New Product Development process.
- Conduct field tests with select customers and company design engineers.
- Create tooling and fixtures utilizing current Cad systems and processes as required in collaboration with and approval of engineering project lead and manufacturing leads.
- Operate various production equipment such as Mig welders, torches, press brakes, mills, and lathes.
- Support all aspects of durability testing, including integrating hardware, strain gauges, and data acquisition equipment; monitoring and collecting data.
- Support the engineering department with process improvement ideas and implementation
- Use precision measuring devices, and read layout prints and schematics.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Excellent mechanical skills and demonstrated proficiency with CNC mills, CNC lathes, MIG welding, acetylene torch, and conventional tools.
- Good understanding of design blueprints, including a working knowledge of ANSI/ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance, ANSI/AWS D1.1 welding standard, and ISO 1219 Fluid Power Schematics standard.
- Knowledge and understanding of electric & hydraulic systems, test equipment, and mechanics of materials.
- Knowledge of modern test equipment, instrumentation, and data collection, and a desire to work in the area of engineering testing associated with durability, fatigue, and structural integrity.
