Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Quality Assurance Director who will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a corporate quality assurance system and leads a team that promotes customer satisfaction and positively impacts TrueNorth Steel’s strategic goals.

Assure consistent quality of production by developing, managing, validating, and enforcing quality processes and procedures.

Will have an active role in continuous improvement efforts and initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS); initiate and implement quality improvement activities as appropriate to raise the performance of the company’s product lines.

Educate and train employees as to their impact on the quality management system.

Direct Reporting includes QA Managers and Quality Control Managers.

Educational Qualification

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Engineering, or Construction Management (preferred)

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance/control implementation and management (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in people management in a manufacturing environment (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Budget management at the department level.
  • Collaborate with departments on functional solutions resulting from nonconformance trends.
  • Collaborate with departments to establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
  • Collaborate with departments to standardize quality processes, procedures, and training across the entire company.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing/Project Management to monitor vendor performance and establish criteria and rating systems for critical vendors.
  • Design, implement, and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
  • Develop and maintain process certification standards and assist in process certification.
  • Develop quality control planning methods for all product lines.
  • Develop, implement, manage, and integrate a QMS for the entire Company.
  • Drive continuous improvement with all departments.
  • Gain an understanding of product line production.
  • Oversee QA/QC personnel training programs.
  • Oversee with Quality Managers all internal and external quality audits.
  • Oversee with Quality Managers all quality control-related issues at the sites.
  • Oversee with the Quality Managers to ensure all corrective actions are resolved timely, root cause was determined, and communicated to all related departments.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Responsible for monitoring the collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect the improvement of product quality.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting on corrective action statuses and resolutions to Senior Management.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting on non-conformance trends to Senior Leadership.
  • Travel to the sites/vendors on a quarterly basis is required.
  • Work with Quality Control Managers on calibration and testing programs for each Product Line
  • Working with interdepartmental teams at all levels of management to accomplish tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience in designing and implementing quality systems.
  • Strong computer skills including quality control applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Strong Personnel Management Skills
  • The trait of being dependable and trustworthy.
  • Thorough understanding of general safety requirements.
