Job Profile
The company is looking for a Quality Control Technician who will measure parts in flat and formed conditions to draw callouts, drawing tolerances, edge quality, and dimensional requirements to meet customer, job, and Farwest requirements.
Oversee welding quality requirements are met in the process(s), parameters, sequence, and application.
Develop, educate, and train peers and operators following Farwest work instructions, standards, and policies.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)

Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs visual and dimensional inspection to Farwest Steel Corp. standards, industry standards (including AWS D1.1), and customer requirements. Research/write non-conformance/returned goods authorizations.
- Provides written procedures for Farwest Steel Corp. including QWIs (Quality Work Instructions), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and Quality Manual Revision.
- Oversee all production processes and related documentation of records. Provides weld sequencing for production when required.
- Performs Formal First Article Inspections and records data on internal or customer-provided documentation. Organizes and maintains inspection documentation, file reporting, records, and planned achieving.
- Qualified candidates will perform NDT to welds: Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Visual; Perform dimensional inspection and receive documentation.
- Provides training for operators and other inspectors. Provides instructional classes for prints, weld symbols, and welding gasses. Provides Dimensional Inspection Training for Farwest Inspectors.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to make mathematical calculations.
- Ability to use both verbal and written English effectively, with courtesy and tact, in dealing with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
- Clear understanding of using measuring tools, and reading prints, with strong customer service skills.
- Print reading and AWS 2.4 Standard Symbols for Welding, Brazing, and Non-destructive Examination required.
- Proficient use of PC (Word, Excel, Outlook) required to draft all weld-related documentation (experienced documentation and daily reporting skills are a must).
