Job Profile
The company is looking for a Quality Engineer who will provide technical support to all areas of the plant in assessment, implementation, and maintenance of Quality systems that meet or exceed customer and TS 16949 standards.
Assist in formal problem-solving activities. Facilitate continuous improvement in product quality, cost, and customer satisfaction.
Ensure quality of products through engineering and statistical practices to maintain and improve manufacturing process controls.

- Experience working in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing setting.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Act as the primary customer contact for APQP, warranty, and miscellaneous customer concerns.
- Act as the primary supplier contact for APQP, PPAP, and other planning processes.
- Act in a Product Engineering role for house accounts, launch RFQs (quote requests), initiate design change requests, review print specifications, recommend materials to customers, and launch prototypes as required.
- Adhere to EHS rules and regulations and suggest ways for continual improvement.
- Analyze returned product for warranty resolution; request and coordinate laboratory analysis; document and distribute results.
- Assist in developing process flow diagrams, control plans, and inspection.
- Conduct internal Quality System and EHS audits.
- Create and maintain system standard procedures.
- Create operating instructions with R&R studies, CPH analysis, and containment documentation.
- Follow the Quality Management System requirements as outlined in the applicable QMS procedures and work instructions, and suggest ways for continual improvement
- Instruct employees on Statistical Process Control fundamentals, use electronic and paper-generated SPC charts, and obtain and analyze statistical data from internal and external sources. Prepare statistical analyses into reports as required by internal and external customers.
- Interface with suppliers to coordinate action on failure issues on parts and services.
- Monitor progress and verification of audit-generated corrective actions.
- Provide training in quality systems and related areas such as APQP, BOS, Problem Solving, and SPC.
- Work with the corporate Purchasing Team to initiate solutions for problem suppliers.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as technical specifications (TS16949, ISO14001); blueprints, material specifications, etc.
- Advanced skills in using Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Must be an independent, self-starting individual.
- Must have experience with Ford quality systems/processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment – includes, but is not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required.
- Must be able to change work pace as needed in response to customer or plant needs.
- Must be able to work at the supplier’s facility as needed
- Office environment – includes, but is not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, and temperature-controlled.
Physical Demands
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to move about the plant in both the office and manufacturing areas.
- Ability to sit frequently for extended periods.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
- Manual dexterity for computer work.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to visit customers on short notice as needs arise
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule
