Job Profile

The company is looking for a Quality Inspector I to join its team.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Work Experience

  • Mechanical aptitude: previous experience in a machine shop, preferably with CNC machining (helpful)
  • Related experience with certification in assigned area (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic dimensional measurements
  • Conduct visual cosmetic inspections
  • Conduct part count verification
  • Inspect completed order for packaging accuracy
  • Inspect completed orders for fulfillment accuracy
  • Enter process information into the computer-based data system
  • Identify quality issues relating to manufacturing processes and order fulfillment
  • Interface with shift supervisor or quality control staff regarding order quantities and part quality
  • Coordinate corrective action as needed to complete orders
  • Transport parts to designated areas
  • Communicate within and without the Quality department as needed
  • Provide feedback regarding training received and the inspection process
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department
  • Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization, and ensure all tools are properly stored and accounted for when not in use
  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance
  • Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Quality Supervisor

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime
  • Ability to obtain the skills to Navigate 3D models in CAD software
  • Able to comprehend and follow printed or on computer-screen directions, instructions, or education given from appropriate points of contact
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Able to read and write in English, and do basic arithmetic
  • Able to use various measuring devices, including calipers, thread gauges, pin gauges, digital height gauge
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
  • Able to work safely with sharp tools/objects, such as but not limited to, hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers
  • Basic computer and calculator skills necessary; must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs
  • Customer focused
  • Good decision-making, follow-up, and follow-through
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Inclination to ask questions and learn
  • Must be punctual and have good attendance
  • Sense of urgency
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness are required

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel and must lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. However, there may be job duties that require the employee to spend time in the manufacturing areas exposed to machinery and noise; eye protection is occasionally required.
  • Occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
