The company is seeking a Quality Manufacturing Engineer to join its team.
Educational Level
- BS Engineering Degree (Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) – preferred
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience related to welding, machining, or heavy industrial assembly
- Experience with heavy equipment or industrial manufacturing
- Level 2 Weld Inspector Certification, together with 3 years of experience
- Inventor/Solid works and Mastercam experience preferred
- Experience in as many as possible of the following areas-
- Lean manufacturing (black belt preferred)
- Cost reduction (VAVE)
- Product fixture
- Work cell’s structure
- Statistical analysis QA/QC
- Capital project justification and implementation
Duties/Responsibilities
- A key driver in reducing the Cost of Quality (CoQ) through developing and improving manufacturing processes
- Act as a liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering, Service, and Sales
- Complete product quality analysis, make recommendations for improvement and corrections
- Design and manage the fabrication of jigs and fixtures
- Direct cross-functional teams to develop and approve part qualifications
- Ensure products adhere to quality disciplines, conformance, and quality standards
- Implement incoming and outgoing quality checks
- Lead implementation of lean manufacturing techniques through designing and implementing efficient workflows, manufacturing processes, and plant layouts
- Maintain quality metrics and reporting
- Manage NCR and CAR processes, including providing training and coaching
- Oversee improved processes and perform lean studies to measure manufacturing cost reduction effectiveness and determine whether processes are sustained
- Perform capital project justifications and fixed asset requests (FAR) writing
- Review new product designs with Manufacturing and Engineering with an emphasis on design for manufacturing efficiently
- Using testing equipment such as FARO Arm and Harness testers
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to be accurate and detail-oriented and follow through with assignments to completion
- Ability to work with supply chain to resolve capability and capacity issues
- Able to conduct CNC programming for mills and lathes
- Good understanding of MRP systems
- Metrics-driven and ability to work autonomously
- Quality equipment experience (Micrometer, Vernier, fillet gauges, hardness tester)
- Skilled in technical tools such as PFMEA, GD&T, AQPQ, SPC, RCA, and Poke-a yoke
