Job Profile

The company is seeking a Quality Supervisor who will oversee quality standards during the production process and ensure quality products are shipped to the customer.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a College Diploma
  • A combination of Grade 12 with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on Supervisory experience in a related field.

Work Experience

  • Possess work-related experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Assist in providing management reports and documentation of key measurable as required
  • Assist with the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing quality system requirements
  • Assistant quality manager (by delegation/designation)
  • Conduct safety walks, and investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Contribute and assist in variability reduction, process improvement, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute and participate in the Customer’s and MHS’s Quality Management System and the Environmental Systems to meet customer and MHS requirements
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspects of the job and encourage all subordinates to do the same
  • Document control and records management
  • Ensure all assembly and press personnel are following the Quality System and conform to quality standards
  • Ensure all first-off/last-off procedures are being followed at all times
  • Ensure good housekeeping for the department and that all areas responsible are tidy and organized at all times
  • Ensure Team Members follow Company policies on Health, Safety, and Environment and PPE requirements
  • Ensure that product identification, traceability, process control, and packaging instructions are being followed at all times
  • Follow company ethics and value policies
  • Follow the escalation process with regard to downtime and quality
  • Have an understanding of the current CBA
  • Maintain a system of communicating ongoing departmental performance to subordinates on a regular basis
  • Part of the team that documents all Customers’ open issues, performs root cause analysis, and assists and guides the plants toward an appropriate and sustainable action plan for resolution.
  • Participate in and coordinate team-oriented problem solving (corrective and preventive actions) applying LEAN methodology
  • Participate in standard work creation
  • Perform monthly Team Meetings
  • Responsible for ensuring all training within the department is completed in a timely manner, documented, and posted. Provide on-the-job retraining as required.
  • Supervise the shift weld testers and dock auditors
  • Support training of all personnel within the assembly & press department to meet the company’s target of quality
  • Update whiteboard areas, and required daily reports
  • Work with teams on CI activities, including 1×1 activities
  • Works closely with the Engineering team and MHS process owners to resolve any Customer-perceived issues regarding our product or program management

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to attain and maintain IATF: 16949 Level 5, Internal Auditor qualification
  • Ability to maintain all quality-related records in an organized and tidy manner, use sound judgment in dispersing confidential information related to employees’ data
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision or directions
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills
  • Continuous improvement skills (Kaizen, 5S)
  • Excellent English Communication Skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Good working knowledge of assembly, stamping, and welding operations
  • Problem-solving, process, and quality improvement skills (LEAN, Six Sigma)
  • Proficient in the use of measuring equipment (i.e. Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, profile projector)
  • Safety trained in OSHA and ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Support and contribute to the Quality Systems and Environmental Management Systems Requirements
  • Proficient in the use of software: MS Windows, MS Office, SharePoint
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to interact with the Customer Quality and MHA Quality Management Teams in a professional manner

Physical Demands

  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 35 lbs. and occasionally 60 to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to see small writing up close
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Frequent crouching, stooping, kneeling
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the facility

Health/Safety

  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies, and procedures
