Job Profile
The company is looking for a Robotic Welder Operator who will perform basic manual welding on simple to medium complexity production welding jobs.
Education Level
- Must have High School or GED or similar
Work Experience
- 3 months of previous robot welding or combined education and experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Interpret weld symbols and place welds in the correct place
- Log job information into the computer
- Mount fixtures, load parts, close clamps, and start a basic robotic welding cycle
- Perform all job duties as indicated on lower-level welding job duties
- Perform basic weld machine maintenance such as straightening torches, changing wire barrels, contact tips, nozzles, diffusers, etc.
- Perform quality checks using measurement tools
- Produce simple to medium complex weldments
- Repair weld defects
- Safely operate robotic weld machines
- Setup machines and weld according to welding procedure specifications (WPS)
- Train new employees
- Weld in flat and horizontal positions using the GMAW process on carbon and stainless steel
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to achieve J2 Jaeger eye score
- Ability to achieve necessary GMAW weld certifications
- Ability to read blueprints and assembly drawings
- Basic math and measurement skills (addition, subtraction, decimal, and fraction conversions); able to accurately read a tape measure
- Must be able to continuously stand for all or most of a regular work shift, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Must demonstrate a high level of critical thinking, eye/hand coordination, and manual dexterity; possess a mechanical aptitude
- Must have the ability to read/write and understand both verbal and written work instructions, work orders, and customer specifications
