Job Profile

The company is searching for a Robotic Welder Operator who will operate the Moto Cell, and weld the base and other components of steel square tubes.

Loads steel shafts via conveyor into the machine. Weld bases, hand hole rims, and other components to make a complete or partially complete assembly.

Monitors the quality of incoming steel shafts and determines when the material is substandard. Operates welding equipment to perform GMAW (MIG) welding.

Will be required to weld in flat and horizontal positions.

Adjusts welding equipment to its prescribed settings, and operates oxy/acetylene burning equipment.

Uses IFS labor reporting system, standard shop forms, move tags, reads, and utilizes blueprints.

Must be able to weld, hammer, grind, and use a variety of different tools.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of welding experience
  • Previous experience operating robotic welders

Certifications

  • Must be certified in MIG welding to meet AWS requirements as well as specialized certifications to customer requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to pass an AWS welder operator qualification test for GMAW processes
  • Knowledge of basic programming and setup of PLC-controlled machinery, troubleshooting, and well-versed in operators’ maintenance of equipment.
  • Ability to operate or become certified in operating a forklift and overhead crane

For Highly Qualified

  • Ability to pass an AWS welder operator qualification test for GMAW processes
  • Certified as a Welder B test
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Previous experience as a Moto Operator Helper.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to bend and pivot as well as lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations in preparing products or setting up machinery
  • Ability to perform all functions of Moto Helper position
  • Ability to read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance and use them to properly weld scheduled work
  • Actively participate in department LEAN activities of the department and demonstrated performance working in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors and conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
  • Must pass welder level 3 assessment
  • Read blueprints and ability to use a tape measure
  • The ability to be forklift certified within the first 90 days of the job
