Job Profile
The company is seeking a Robotics Applications Engineer who will identify automation/robotics solutions, build and test proof-of-concept and prototype systems, and perform industry and market research on new robotics technologies.
Help to develop cutting-edge telepresence solutions, working with advanced 2D/3D sensors, supporting automated robotic path planning development, and creating unique ways to interpret and visualize data.
Education Level
- BS Engineering or other related technical field of study
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in developing, building, operating, and troubleshooting robotic/automation systems
Duties/Responsibilities
- Building expertise in the integration and setup of various automation technologies such as collaborative robots (cobots), vision systems, grippers, and process tooling
- Investigating technology options through OEM/vendor discussions and internet research
- Preparing documentation, reports, and presentations on project work, technology learning, operating procedures, etc.
- Using CAD and simulation software packages to design and edit basic components and validate system concepts
- Working closely with subject matter experts to design, develop, and build demonstration and prototype automation systems
- Working collaboratively with internal and external teams to identify automation opportunities and solutions for our clients
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to confidently present in front of internal and external audiences
- Ability to work well with ever-changing priorities or situations
- Coding experience for industrial applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under stress, despite numerous interruptions
- Exhibit and maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude toward work and co-workers
- Experience with advanced 2D/3D machine vision or sensor applications.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in assigned tasks consistently
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of associates
- Proficiency in working with, configuring, and debugging various automation hardware and software, such as robots/cobots, vision systems, sensors, end-of-arm-tooling, process tooling, controls, PLCs, HMIs, etc.
- Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Sole US Citizenship is required based on federal contract requirements
- Solid works or AutoCAD skills, including the ability to design and edit parts and assemblies.
- Team-oriented attitude and focus with a strong ability to collaborate with others
- Working knowledge of automation system development or integration
Additional Preferred Skills
- Automation system simulation experience
- CNC machine setup or programming experience
- Collaborative robot experience such as with Universal Robots, Doosan, Fanuc, etc.
- RIA safety risk assessment experience
