Job Profile

The company is seeking a Saw Operator who will operate a band saw, chop saw, and reciprocating saw to remove gates and risers from castings

Education Level

• Must possess a High School Diploma/GED Certificate or equivalent training/experience

Work Experience

• 1-2 years of manufacturing experience will be considered an asset

Duties/Responsibilities

• Arrange castings and associated paperwork.
• Changing blades, bearings, and pucks on the band saw
• Cuts backup plates for welders and test bars from castings used for destructive testing in the lab.
• Cuts hardeners for melt room
• Follows the start-up procedure for the saw required.
• Grease Todd saw and table.
• Identifies with paint, risers, runners, and gates as per casting alloy color code chart.
• Maintains a clean working area to 6s standards.
• Manipulates lever and control wheels or push button to remove risers and gates from casting, remove chills if required.
• Moves castings to the next operation using conveyors/hand carts.
• Notifies supervisor of any job irregularities, faulty equipment, or materials.
• Observe all plant safety rules and regulations.
• Picks up castings from the conveyors using a hoist, manipulator, or employee assistance.
• Positions castings on the saw using fixtures, clamps, or manually.
• Receives instruction from Supervisor or Manager.
• Remove flash and inspect castings for major defects.
• Round ends of saws all blades using the grinder.
• Sections castings to layout lines or as required.
• Segregates scrap sections into containers by alloy and transfers them to metal stores.
• Signs and dates travel card operations when necessary
• Welds saw blades, weighs castings, and cuts wires for test bars.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• All candidates will be required to pass a general aptitude test to be considered
• Must be able to work 8-10 hour rotating shifts
