Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Senior Engineer, Advanced Operations who will provide process engineering support for sustainment and improvement of our surgical instruments, working with Marketing, R&D, Cost Accounting, Advanced Sourcing, Advanced Quality, and Validation team members.

This position is responsible for process design, development, and validation in new product development.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants require a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline from a college/university

Work Experience

  • Possess 2+ years of work experience (required); 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment (highly preferred)
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated or highly regulated industry (preferred)
  • Experience in executing complex problem-solving techniques related to manufacturing/design technical issues

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and result-analysis
  • Complete capability studies for in-process inspection and generates subsequent Inspection documentation
  • Ensure quality of process and product as defined in the appropriate operation and material specifications
  • Lead or participate in process review meetings
  • Leads or supports capital acquisition activity by specifying equipment, contract negotiation, installation, and validation
  • Participate in Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plan, SOP, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) generation associated with product transfers and launches
  • Review and approval of validation documentation
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability, and regulatory requirements
  • Work with quality engineers to develop component-specific testing and inspection protocols
  • Working closely with internal and contract manufacturers to develop processes for electro-mechanical assembly including PCBA manufacturing, potting, conformal coating, soldering, pressing, laser welding, laser marking, torquing, and manual assembly

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to plan, organize and implement concurrent tasks
  • Good instincts and sound judgment for electrical, mechanical, and structural design
  • Innovative thinker; able to envisage new and better ways of doing things
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), PCBA manufacturing, potting, conformal coating, soldering, pressing, laser welding, laser marking, torquing, and manual assembly preferred
