Job Profile

Texas Gas Service is searching for a Senior Field Tech with a strong welding background in the Port Arthur area.

Educational Qualification

• The applicants may be required to have a High School Diploma
• Qualified Plastic Fusion Technician certification.

Work Experience

• Experience in the use, function, and repair of tools and equipment applicable to the position.
• Experience in construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution pipeline systems.

Experience with-

• Work in excavations and confined spaces
• Basic customer service activities
• Company and governmental operating/safety procedures
• Fuse plastic pipe
• Characteristics of natural gas
• Experience reading and interpreting maps, atlas pages, blueprints, and job orders.
• Experience in basic computer functions and software.
• Read and write fluently in English.
• CDL Required.
• Applicable driver’s license.
• Applicable Operator Qualifications.
• Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds 10 15 times a day; up to 40 pounds 7 10 times a day; over 50 pounds 10 12 times a day.
• Climb into and out of excavations.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform pipeline construction, installation, maintenance, and removal work on transmission and distribution pipelines.
• Perform an advanced level of construction and maintenance operating work related to a pipeline system.
• Maintain crew truck. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including:
  -Pipe and crescent wrenches
  -Pipe cutters and threaders
  -Air compressors and generators
  -Plastic fusion irons
  -Jackhammers and concrete saws
  -Mini and large backhoe
  -Combustible Gas Indicators
  -Tap equipment
  -No blow equipment
  -Forklift
  -Respirators
  -Oxygen analyzer
  -Ultrasound equipment
  -Electrofusion equipment/processor

• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment including:
  -Washing truck and equipment
  -Fuel truck and check fluid levels
  -Apply lubricants
  -Change oil and filters
  -Cleaning/adjusting tools

• Maintain multiple records including:
  -Hours worked
  -Orders completed
  -Mileage reports
  -Accident/first aid reports
  -Leak reports

• Investigate customer-related orders and emergency situations:
  -Low-Pressure calls
  -Class 1 Leaks
  -Blow lines
  -Fires/explosions
  -Undetectable lines

• Regular and reliable attendance is required in the performance of the job.
• Employees may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Experience in the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).

Work Conditions

• Travel – Mud, Gravel, Sand, Rocks, Ice, Snow
• React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
• Smell odorant in natural gas.
• Detect and react to warning signals at work sites.
• Operate tools and equipment.
