The company (Trinity Rail Maintenance Services) is seeking a Senior Fitter/Welder to join its team.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.
• Follows all safety rules and practices.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of metal according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches in preparation for welding.
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
• May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
• May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies.
• May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Observes all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records.
• Tack-welds pieces together.
• May perform GMAW, FCAW, or SMAW welding
• May weld on stainless steel
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Accurately measures within specified tolerances
• Performs out-of-position welding and repairs
• Proficient at Carbon Arcing
• Proficient at fillet and groove welds
• Proficient at Oxy Fuel Cutting
• Reads blueprints and Weld Symbols
