Job Profile
The company is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who will provide technical support to manufacturing to ensure safe execution of work that meets engineering, quality, and productivity objectives. This position will focus on:
- Actively participate in New Product Introduction and provide recommendations that support design for manufacturability
- Collaborate with the Quality functions to support MRB activity (including but not limited to acting as liaison with Engineering on disposition of non-conformances related to manufacturing)
- Create and maintain manufacturing master data in the ERP system (including but not limited to material master, bill of material, and manufacturing routings)
- Design tooling, jigs, and fixtures are necessary for the efficient assembly and testing of components
- Generate, maintain, and improve manufacturing standard operating procedures that meet the design specifications and requirements
- Provide improvement recommendations on Standard Work and work processes in manufacturing
- Review and interpret engineering data (i.e., drawings, specifications, test data, etc.) to provide technical support to manufacturing on the assembly and testing operations
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience (required)
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations (primarily assembly and testing of highly engineered products).
Work Experience
- 5 years of manufacturing experience within manufacturing operations (primarily assembly and testing of highly engineered products).
- Minimum 1 year of experience with either AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex drawings (ASME for mechanical drawings)
- Training or hands-on experience in Operational Excellence fundamentals, including 6S, Standard Work, and Visual Management.
- Prior experience with hydraulic systems operation and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated experience with Enovia (PLM software).
Duties/Responsibilities
Engineering Drawings-
- Liaise with engineering to resolve issues with engineering documentation, such as missing parts on BOMs, wrong parts on BOMs, incomplete, or unclear drawings
- Participate in product design reviews and new material evaluation
- Review engineering drawings to ensure manufacturability of assemblies (including product configuration based on customer requirements of hardware and software)
Standard Work-
- Coordinate, develop, and maintain manufacturing planning for a high complexity product portfolio (material master, bill of material, and manufacturing routers) to meet external/customer and internal/engineering requirements.
- Document and maintain standard work procedures and instructions. Collaborate with manufacturing functions to ensure standard work is implemented properly
- Identify and implement safety and productivity improvements
- Orchestrate the implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and ensure proper deployment throughout all functional areas within the value stream
- Review and approve ECO/ECRs within PLM to ensure an appropriate workflow and support manufacturing in coordinating change management with all functional groups. Ensure changes are properly scoped, defined, and implemented for execution in manufacturing (including finished goods and work in progress).
- Support the Industrial Engineer to perform time and motion studies. Correct/update routers as necessary
Design Tooling, Jigs, And Fixtures-
- Design tooling jigs and fixtures as needed to support safe and efficient work
- Work with the sourcing or machine shop to procure
- Write work instructions and train employees on the proper use of fixtures, etc.
Other Roles-
- Assist with the implementation of lean manufacturing principles across assigned work areas, including 6S, Standard Work, MDI boards, Visual management, Value stream mapping, benchmarking, Work cell design, inventory flow, and other Operational Excellence objectives.
- Demonstrate and teach company policies on operating standards, safety, maintenance, quality, and cost control.
- Lead Cost Improvement activities throughout assigned work areas.
- Maintain good working relations, coordinate/integrate with shop personnel, and write reports.
- Review ECR, ECO, NCR, BOM, and drawings to ensure design for manufacturability
