Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who will develop, manage, and support the metal 3D printing process for use in the development of rocket engine components for Aerospace and Defense applications.

Review proposed and awarded contracts and evaluate proposed parts for the manufacturing process, generate base timing costs and scheduling, generate quotes, review drawings, create work instructions, create manufacturing schedules, and oversee production of products.

Education Level

• BSc Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, or similar engineering or equivalent Combination of Education and experience

Work Experience

• 6+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
• Prior experience with SolidWorks, Creo, or similar CAD software

Duties/Responsibilities

Project Management (40%)

• Upon receipt of the PO initiate contract review activities
• Create & maintain a project schedule
• Work with project teams to provide regular status updates
• Manage products at outside service providers

Design Engineering (25%)

• Review part drawings to identify critical features and improvements for additive manufacturing
• Refine CAD data for the design of manufacturing
• Design supports, and generates build files for printing

Manufacturing Engineering (25%)

• Design tooling and Fixturing as needed
• Establish non-standard internal processes such as machining, complex wiring, and finishing
• Establish process workflow
• Generate and maintain the following documentation:
• Identify Outside Service Providers as needed
• Inspection Plans
• Machining Plans
• Part Routing
• Work Instructions

Business Development (10%)

• Evaluation of proposed parts for the Additive process
• Generate base timing, costs, and scheduling
• Generate quotes

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to include report writing, requirements derivation, and documentation, as well as design review presentations

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with additive simulation software
• Experience with additive software Materialise Magics, EOS Print, NetFabb, or similar
• Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical
• Working knowledge of heat transfer and thermal dynamics with a focus on additive manufacturing
• Working knowledge of laser welding theory, concepts, or applications with a focus on additive manufacturing
• Working knowledge of topological optimization modeling
