Job Profile

The company is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective designs, manufacturing processes, and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Recommends and implements improvements to products, production processes, methods, and controls.

Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Priorities include project management, process improvement, problem resolution, and employee training.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Designs, develops, tests, or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Performs process evaluations including production flow, assembly methods, and waste elimination.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency improvement.
  • Performs research, design, and development of new and sustaining manufacturing processes and tool design
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  • Provide technical support to other departments as required to meet the needs of our customers
  • Represents engineering on cross-functional teams.
  • Responsible for implementing all phases of project plans and monitoring progress per established schedule and budget targets
  • Responsible for maintaining good relationships with customers, field personnel, and other Valmont departments to ensure the most efficient working environment
  • Responsible for providing creative and innovative engineering solutions that aid in the resolution of field and manufacturing problems and the maintenance and improvement of existing products.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of Auto Cad or SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Communicate effectively with Teammates.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain technical specifications, process capabilities, and tooling libraries.
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing.
  • The ability to mentor and lead others

Credible Qualifications

  • Ability to identify, communicate, and participate in process improvement opportunities (LEAN) aimed at reducing cost, improving efficiencies, and increasing customer satisfaction
  • Experience with composites
  • Experience with GD&T, material specification, surface finishing requirements, and manufacturing techniques (milling, turning, welding, surface treatments)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as; fabrication, machining, welding, etc., preferred.
  • Mechanical Design or Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Previous work experience managing projects
