Job Profile

The company is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will work within the engineering team, on projects based on new products, existing, and prototype designs developing new or improved products, processes, and techniques, along with keeping modularity across product lines as it makes sense.

Ensure project designs are held up to the latest codes and standards.

Focusing on machine performance, reliability, safety, and standardization across product lines through effective collaboration between internal and external customers.

Education Level

Work Experience

  • 6+ years of work experience in the aforementioned engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in the aforementioned engineering discipline and a proven track record of leading multiple projects and teams.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all machine system development groups in engineering within the company and work with vendors or contractors.
  • Component and system drafting, properly annotating drawings with dimensions, surface finishes, welds (AWS D14.1 or D1.1), and tolerance fits for manufacturing and machine assemblies.
  • Evaluate mechanical and structural systems, for example, machine structures, winches/gearboxes, motors, sheaves, drums, enclosures, and operator’s cab.
  • Evaluate the tolerance stack up for new or existing designs and recommend class fits for the application.
  • Mentor other engineers by providing guidance, feedback, and support within the team and other supporting engineering teams.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, provide technical specifications and reports, and communicate with the Chief Engineer any updates, new ideas, changes, or issues.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations to support the project design. Check drawings for completeness and provide feedback.
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new and existing products.
  • Prepare component and system drawings (layouts, assemblies, installation drawings).

Additional Responsibilities

  • Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (both internal and external)
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries
  • Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Companywide policies to eliminate or reduce exposure to liability
  • Special projects or work as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.

Work Environment

  • Primarily a sedentary office classification and work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances
  • Minimal travel required- up to 10% domestic and international travel requirements.
  • Potential for flexible work available upon successful and satisfactory completion of the required training period.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes, and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 30 pounds
