Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible, for the design of mechanical systems or components both in the traditional nuclear market and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should be Licensed P.Eng. or member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical Engineering)

Work Experience

  • Possess 5+ years of relevant experience (required)
  • Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews, and engineering change control processes
  • Experience in the substantiation of custom equipment typically: steel structures, hoisting/lifting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems
  • Experience working within 3D CAD systems and with FEA

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists
  • Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems
  • Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems or components against applicable codes and standards
  • Prepare clear and concise design reports and technical specifications.
  • Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team
  • Review, approve, and seal design reports, technical documentation, and drawings
  • Support resolution of issues throughout the design, manufacture, and testing of systems or components

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills, and experience working effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications, and associated inspection techniques
