Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting crude oil and refined products to the West Coast. It delivers approximately 300,000 barrels of crude oil and refined products each day.
Job Profile
The company is searching for a Senior Pipeline Integrity Engineer who will plan and execute integrity programs for pipeline integrity.
Also, identifies integrity threats, develop mitigative and preventative actions, implement controls, and document accordingly.
The position will report to the Team Lead, In-line Inspection (ILI) Implementation in the Technical Services Department.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants must have a Professional Engineer designation and be registered with APEGA. Registration with EGBC would be an asset.
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in pipeline engineering and integrity
- A high degree of familiarity with industry best practices, codes, standards, and regulations in Canada and the USA, including but not limited to CSA Z662-19, CFR 195.452, API 1163, API 1176, API 1183
- Strong knowledge and experience with-
-Corrosion growth, pipe movement, and strain analysis
-Crack, deformation, and metal loss assessments and evaluation
-ILI data analysis using IMU, Geometry, MFL, UTWM, EMAT, and UTCD
-Maintenance pigging
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in defining annual pipeline integrity budgets and 10-year long-range plans
- Develop/update/review company integrity standards and procedures
- Emphasis on in-line inspection frequency and tool technology selection, report review, data analysis and creation of excavation/dig programs, and ILI performance evaluation
- Ensure integrity monitoring programs are compliant with Trans Mountain IMP, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
- Maintain continuous, up-to-date program and activity records and metrics
- Manage integrity projects and review 3rd party technical reports as needed
- Manage metallurgical testing program
- Mentor or coach less experienced engineers as needed
- Participate in Joint Industry Projects and external industry associations/workgroups as needed
- Provide technical/integrity support across the company
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
- Ability to work in a high-paced, multi-task environment with attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Python will be an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, chemical treatments, welding, and cathodic protection would be an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Travelling would be required occasionally.
