Job Profile
The company is hiring a Sr. Principal Coating Engineer who will evaluate, select, and apply advanced-level mechanical engineering techniques to the new design, construction, renovation, and maintenance of assigned projects.
Primary focus on advanced mechanical design, and automation of liquid and powder application systems for the internal corrosion control coating of tubular goods.
Second, the focus will be abrasive blasting applications for internal surface prep of tubular goods.
Responsible for the full product lifecycle including Design, R&D, Testing, Field Installation, Field Commissioning, and Continuous Improvement.
Education Level
- Bachelor of Science or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (required)
Work Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering
- Hands-on experience (e.g. mechanically inclined hobbies, experience in mechanic shop, hands-on with mechanical systems, understanding of welding practices).
Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptual development, design, and implementation of complex, large-scale manufacturing equipment and oversee its organization, scheduling, cost control, and implementation.
- Lead the planning, design, and installation of multiple engineering-based projects. Projects typically consist of new equipment design, new equipment construction, and refurbishment of existing used equipment.
- Provide hands-on operational field support to all manufacturing facilities including technical based troubleshooting of equipment, modifications of existing equipment, and installation of new equipment.
- Review, comment, and modify consultant or in-house prepared design drawings for compliance with numerous regulatory agencies.
- Includes on-site and indirect management of various contractors performing work within NOV Tuboscope facilities.
- Use established practices and apply educational knowledge of mechanical design engineering principles.
- Utilize AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor to complete engineering design projects successfully and within budget.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to work independently with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and thoughts clearly.
- High level of organizational skills.
- Mechanically inclined mindset with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be familiar with Autodesk 3D Inventor or similar 3D modeling applications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Travel requirements are below 25% but may include both international and domestic travel opportunities based on project assignments.
