Job Profile

The company (Meyer Utility Structures) is recruiting a Senior Welder who will use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders.

Use manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.

Requires knowledge of Flux Core and Carbon Arcing Weld processes as well as the ability to perform flat groove welds and horizontal flat fillet welds.

Welds are subject to Ultrasonic inspection.

Educational Qualification

  • No education level is mentioned, a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in structural welding
  • Flux Core experience (required)
  • Previous experience with passing UT inspection (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and practices
  • Maintain and complete all required records
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications
  • May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies
  • May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools in accordance with layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches.
  • Observe all standard safety practices
  • Operate grinding equipment
  • Perform basic repairs
  • Perform full penetration (such as slip joint) welds to weld ends to poles or channels
  • Weld clips and hardware
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be able to pass 2G weld test with flux core
  • Ability to maintain a 92% pass rate on UT inspection
  • Ability to maintain good attendance
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed
  • Basic understanding of Carbon Arcing
  • Basic understanding of Oxy-Fuel/Plasma burning
  • Qualify as a horizontal welder
