Job Profile

The company is looking for a Senior Welding Engineer who will work within the Advanced Reactor Testing group supporting the eVinci Micro Reactor test program.

Work primarily at the Waltz Mill site with occasional travel to the Cranberry HQ office.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Welding, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from a college/university
  • Master’s Degree (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Experienced welder using various processes and materials in all positions – SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, brazing
  • Preferred experience in 3D modeling software (Inventor or Solid works)
  • Preferred experience with finite element analysis utilizing ANSYS workbench
  • Preferred pressure, temperature, and fluid flow instrumentation experience
  • Prior experience working in a lab/testing environment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering designs for welding requirements.
  • Conduct custom welding and machining operations.
  • Conduct failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues.
  • Establish welding procedures, processes, and documentation related to specification restrictions, material processes, pre/post-heating requirements that involve the use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, complex post-heating requirements, etc.
  • Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
  • Prepare detailed sketches, 3D models, and drawings using Auto Cad, Inventor, and/or Solid works.
  • Prepare technical reports as a result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.

  • Preferred working knowledge of ASME Section VIII BPVC code
  • Preferred working knowledge of NI Labview
  • Strong organizational, and planning skills and attention to detail
  • Strong technical writing ability
