Job Profile
The company is hiring a Shear/Notch Operator who will be responsible for locating work orders, getting the correct material, programming the machine, and laying out parts by hand in accordance with the dimensions on drawings using the correct tooling.
Load material and operating system control to shear or notch as required per DWG.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- Possess previous related experience (preferred, but not required)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to change punches as needed
- Deburr parts before sending them to the next location
- Grind edges using a grinder
- Identify and skid parts to be sent to the correct location such as weld, shear, etc.
- Identify parts using the build order
- Knowledge of controls and safety guards and barriers
- Measure using a tape measure for the correct dimensions
- Perform maintenance on tooling as needed
- Place parts on the skid or table for transfer to the correct location by using an overhead crane or by hand
- Pull parts as directed by Lead Person
- Read and interpret drawings
- Reference engineering drawings to perform correct size holes and lengths

- Ability to adapt to change and flex his/her work at appropriate times so as to support the assembly process

- Ability to compare and accurately determine differences in size, shape, and form of objects
- Ability to correctly and safely use other hand tools (both manual and pneumatic)
- Ability to correctly use measuring tools
- Ability to follow and understand directions
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to plan work and select proper tools
- Ability to read a tape measure in metric and imperial standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
Physical Demands
- Ability to use both hands overhead
- Lifting up to 50 pounds; 50+ pounds with assistance
- Perform repetitive motions
- Plant environment with potential exposure to all types of weather, including excessive heat, excessive cold, and excessive noise
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, reaching, working at heights, and using a ladder as required
