Job Profile

The company is seeking a Sheet Metal Worker to join its team.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should possess a valid Journeyperson Sheet Metal certificate for the Province of NL
• Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield is required.

Work Experience

• May be required to upgrade to Secret Level II (dependent upon the customer’s security requirements).
• Must successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Screening Test.
• A valid NL Class 5 driver’s license is required.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Adjust, repair, and install dampers and repair or replace defective parts.
• Assemble and position scaffolding, ladders, and other elevated work platforms for the installation/checking of heating-cooling/exhaust duct systems and sheet metal items.
• Assist shop Supervisor/lead mechanic with estimates for repairs or installations.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work.
• Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
• Fabricate sheet metal items prior to installation using hand, pneumatic, and power tools, or welding equipment.
• Install sheet metal items for heating-cooling/exhaust equipment (including insulation), machinery according to layout plans using hand pneumatic and power tools, or welding equipment.
• May be required to operate light-duty vehicles and other vehicles in the performance of their duties.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of sheet metal items.
• Operate machinery and tools to fabricate parts required during maintenance or set-up of machinery or equipment.
• Read diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Required to assist other trades/Trades Helpers in the performance of their duties.
• Required to periodically work in adverse weather conditions and remote locations.
• Required to train apprentices up to Journeyperson level and endorse appropriate documentation.
• Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.
• Perform other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to obtain driver abstract
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security clearance (required)
