The company is hiring a Shop Engineer to join its team.

Education Level

  • Bachelor of Science Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace), Bachelor of Science Engineering Technology, equivalent four-year degree.

Work Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in shop engineering or related experience including but not limited to fabrication, machining, and creation of industrial drawings.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in customer witness inspections and tests as necessary.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure prompt and effective problem-solving of reported service shop troubles for assigned product lines.
  • Conducts and documents periodic reviews of Quality department procedures for correctness and adequacy and makes revisions as required.
  • Conducts training for Donora personnel on quality topics.
  • Contact with the following occurs regularly: Service Center Managers, Shop Managers, Customers, Auditors, Product & Project Engineers, Engineers – GS, ES & EPD, Manufacturing Personnel, Supervisors & Managers, Quality Department (Internal and Outsourcing), Rerate Application Engineering, Development Engineering, Technical Service, Document Control, and Purchasing
  • Develop and maintain quality plans.
  • Develops or presents assigned programs for training.
  • Direct supervisory responsibilities for Quality Inspectors. The direct supervisory responsibilities include providing direction and guidance to quality inspectors and outside quality services. Responsibilities include salary increase planning, performance appraisals, discipline, performance appraisals, and staffing the team.
  • Executes service engineering assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, computer programs, and criteria which may involve independent action and decision.
  • Initiate drafting requests and approve layout and detail drawings relating to shop problems and service order requests.
  • Issue and implement Quality Action Requests as needed.
  • Issue and resolve product non-conformances.
  • Lead quality system and process audits.
  • Makes man-hour estimates of the time required to complete assignments and submits them for priority, cost, and scheduling purposes.
  • Manage the technical coordinator aspect that ensures the supplier’s understanding of Elliott’s requirements.
  • Performs liaison functions with other engineering departments on the specification, manufacturing, assembly, material quality, testing, repair, performance, and operation, of assigned product(s). Includes consulting with field service, service parts, and service repair on field trouble jobs, defective parts, rebuilds, rework, etc., and to rerate group on new parts orders, engineering studies and design changes.
  • Prepares and reviews assigned writeups for technical manuals.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely customer inspection reports.
  • Responsible for developing metrics related to project quality including non-conformance reports, supplier non-conformance reports, and process non-conformances.
  • Responsible for developing training plans and providing career support and guidance to subordinates.
  • Responsible for generating and submitting in writing, ideas to improve Elliott products, their costs, service, application, and sale as well as improved Elliott productivity.
  • Responsible for reverse engineering of non-Elliot products to achieve the successful completion of component repairs and delivery.
  • Responsible for the control and maintenance of the tooling and instrumentation calibration system.
  • Review and sign for quality-related procedures.
  • Review customer specifications as required and provide comments and exceptions to quality, inspection, and testing-related items.
  • Support Repair Shop Manager and Bearing Department Manager in meeting group objectives.
  • Travel requirements should be minimal, travel on the weekend may be required.

  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic CAD and FEA abilities, and ability to operate with Elliott Business Systems.
  • Exhibits desire for continuous education and training effort.
  • Knowledge of standard drawing symbols
  • Possesses good work habits, promptness, and dependability.
