Job Profile

The company is hiring a Shop Helper who will contribute to the manufacturing program by assisting machinists and welders in a variety of tasks including forklift operation, shop cleaning, assembly work, and machine upkeep.

Be capable of physical labor and working safely in a hazardous environment.

The ability to operate shop equipment and weld is also desirable.

Educational Level

• High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

• 1+ years of experience in a shop environment (preferred)
• Forklift certification (desired)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist in operating machines under the supervision of a qualified fabricator
• Be available for general labor and chores in the facility such as assembling tools or furniture
• Maintain clean shop environment through removal of chips, dust, and debris from manufacturing operations
• Move palletized items via forklift throughout the facility
• Organize incoming deliveries
• Assist in assembly work on the shop floor
• Show a willingness to learn and gain new skills on the job
• Other duties as assigned

• Ability to operate motor vehicles and be insured on company vehicles
• Ability to proactively collect, manage, and transfer knowledge
• Ability to properly and safely use hand tools
• Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges, and issues
• Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
• Ability to work with a highly collaborative team
• Able to take instruction and complete tasks on time
• Familiarity with CNC mills, welding, and manual machines desired
• Prioritizes and ensures the safety of oneself and others
• Proven team player with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

• Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 60 pounds in all directions
• Communicating with others to exchange information
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
• Operating heavy equipment or machinery
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
• Repetitive assembly operations of manufacturing test fixtures and test setups in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams
• Use hand tools

Work Environment

• Noisy environments
• Odors or fumes from chemicals or chemical reactions
• Accessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
• High-concentration, demanding and fast-paced

Safety/PPE

• Manipulating, cleaning, and disposal of hazardous materials
• Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs
• Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
• Wearing proper PPE, including face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes

• Occasionally requires working 2nd shift, beginning at 4:30 pm local time
• Occasionally requires extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines
