Job Profile

The company is searching for a Shop Helper who will be responsible for assisting with prepping, grinding, sanding, and cleaning of sheet metal and steel material.

Assist machine operators and welders with assigned tasks to complete the fabrication of materials.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

• Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or a related field

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist machine operators (press brake, punch press, and laser) with loading and unloading items from the machines
• Assist welders with structural welds by holding materials in place
• Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment
• Cut material in preparation for fabrication or processing
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Transfer raw materials, finished products, tools, or equipment between work areas on the production floor using powered equipment (ex., forklifts)
• Complete other related duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Knowledge of manufacturing, equipment maintenance, and safety management

Work Environment

• Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds at a time.
• Must wear PPE, such as gloves, safety glasses, a hard hat, and ear protection, while working on the production floor
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, kneeling, and performing repetitive tasks.
