Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (desirable)

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience managing a manufacturing facility

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor departmental and individual goals, objectives, and growth to improve shop performance.
  • Directly responsible for all fabrication and assembly activities within the facility.
  • Participate in safety walkthroughs, take corrective actions, and communicate safety procedures with shop employees.
  • Plan, develop, and install new manufacturing technology & concepts for the improvement of manufacturing capability, cost control, and quality.
  • Provide the atmosphere and leadership for the innovation, development, and implementation of cost-effective programs and production efficiency.
  • Purchase and maintain in-house manufacturing equipment and tools.
  • Responsible for facility upkeep and maintenance.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, terminating, and evaluating shop employees.
  • Responsible for the manufacturing areas including steel fabrication, electrical wiring, machining, and final assembly.
  • Review project schedules to evaluate the status of parts and resources to create a shop production schedule.
  • Time clock auditing for shop employees. Make corrections and resolve discrepancies with Payroll. Audit and approve any overtime.
  • Work closely with HR to evaluate, document, and administer disciplinary action when warranted.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read drawings, welding symbols, machining tolerances
  • Able to lead and motivate a group of 30-40 shop employees.
  • Able to work with project managers and engineers in a project environment.
  • Be a decision-maker and take responsibility for the decisions made.
  • Identify and rectify areas within the business that need additional attention. Able to lead the company into new technologies and processes to retain competitiveness.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a “whatever it takes” attitude to get tasks completed accurately and on time.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills and work well within a dynamic professional team.
  • Prior industry knowledge and the ability to adapt quickly to changing environments.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and production scheduling processes.
