Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Sr. Specialist (Manufacturing Engineer-Metallurgy) who will support all programs in processing and machining/forming of steel structures for solid rocket motors.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Manufacturing engineer-metallurgy experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Manufacturing engineer-metallurgy experience.
- In place of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior Manufacturing Engineer – Metallurgy experience
Work Experience
- 4 years of processing experience with metal components/structures (preferably thin-walled pressure vessels)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
- Evaluate and implement tractable solutions to technical problems involving metal structure forming and machining, particularly thin-walled pressure vessels
- Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, standard operating procedures, quality requirements (both customer and company), and applicable safety requirements related to metal processing
- Knowledge of thin-walled pressure vessel manufacturing techniques
- Prepares comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports, and presentations for customer reviews (both internal and external)
- Travel: 25% travel to several key suppliers manufacturing thin-walled motor cases will be required (e.g. 1 week every 1-2 months or as required) and some travel may be required to our energetics manufacturing site in Camden, AR depending upon issues found during manufacturing and required site visits to help resolve work stoppage or failure investigations
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Preferred Skills-
- Degree in material science, metallurgy, or related science and technical experience in processing metal structures and thin-walled pressure vessels
- Experience with hydro-proof testing, statistical analysis, and data acquisition is a plus
- Heat-treating knowledge is a plus
- Experience with electron beam welding and TIG welding a plus
