Job Profile
The company is searching for a Sr. Welding Engineering Manager who will support the weld engineering management system elements, and verify implementation and compliance to industry codes, internal weld standards, and procedures.
Works closely with design, quality functions, and operations to mitigate weld-related issues and continuously improve weld systems.
Designs and implements on-the-job training programs to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in manufacturing operations.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering or related field. (metallurgical or mechanical with welding automation focus) – College/University
Work Experience
- 10 years of relevant work experience
- Cross-cultural, bilingual (English, Spanish) experience is preferred
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assess people, and processes and recommend improvements, solutions
- Develops and implements Job Training programs to improve safety, quality, and efficiency of manufacturing and maintenance operations
- Develops and implements plans to mitigate issues and align support to meet business strategic initiatives
- Ensure compliance with the Welding management system
- Ensures all welding engineering management system elements are successfully implemented throughout the company
- Identifies cost improvement opportunities and develops and implements plans to achieve such improvements in an efficient manner
- Improve, and sustain processes with Process Validation Audits
- Provide technical support and training when needed
- Provide weld joint design and drawing review to Design Engineers
- Provides technical support to manufacturing and maintenance operations, Parts and components, and mobile repair units
- Qualify PQRs and write, review, and approve WPS
- Review, and approve Supplier PQR, WPS, and WQTR
- Support site welding management leaders during welder training ramp-ups
- Supports manufacturing sites in preparation for and during internal/external compliance audits
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Applied use of Lean Six Sigma tools
- Deep welding knowledge in key service areas (CWI, Metallurgy, Process, Design, Failure Analysis)
- Heavy fabrication (pressure vessel, construction, off-road equipment) is a plus
- Leading/managing welding projects
- Multi-site, cross-functional organization. (Ability to coordinate and engage resources from different disciplines and locations to support business needs.)
- SAW, FCAW, GMAW
