Job Profile
The company is hiring a Steam Plant Maintenance Mechanic who will assist the Plant Supervisor to provide service, preventative maintenance, and repairs on high-pressure boilers, and their associated equipment.
Through proper maintenance, increasing overall reliability and creating a safe and efficient operation.
Assists all aspects of the plant from a maintenance and operational standpoint working closely with the plant manager, and plant supervisor.
Education Level
- Completion of a 2-year Technical Degree or Equivalent
Work Experience
- A minimum 2 years of experience in an industrial maintenance and operation-related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Equivalent to a 2nd Class Minnesota Class B Boiler Operator’s License or higher
- 3 years of high-pressure boiler experiences
Duties/Responsibilities
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Plans, selects, and lays out required materials for service and repair work.
- Requisitions of new supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for performing regular preventative maintenance and repairs for high-pressure gas/oil boilers and associated equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and make repairs to malfunctioning equipment.
- Train the Operators that are on maintenance on proper mechanics and theory of operation. Supervise the work of the Operator when on a maintenance schedule to ensure proper cleaning and service repairs. Review daily logs to determine areas of concern for maintenance issues. Update service schedule and intervals of associated plant equipment.
- Welding or cutting using Mig, Arc, or Oxygen-acetylene torch. Use metal working tools, such as metal brakes, drill press, etc. Make repairs on all boilers and associated equipment as needed. Come in on call back to make any necessary repairs to ensure plant operation status.
- Works from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts, or verbal instructions and operates a variety of tools and machines incidental to operations.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- May be required to possess a valid driver’s license.
- May be required to use a variety of hand and power tools or forklifts.
- Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
- Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. subject to callbacks seven days a week, 24 hours a day
- Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., etc.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of various maintenance fundamentals sufficient to deal with service and repairs of industrial-related equipment.
- Solid understanding of welding fundamentals and techniques.
