Job Profile

The company (Professional Service Industries) is hiring a Structural Inspector/CWI who will perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under direct supervision or from detailed controlled procedures.

Provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment.

Offers the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on-site.

Educational Level

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
• Technical Degree in Welding (preferred)

Work Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant AWS experience (required)
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience is (required)
• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Certification and ICC Structural Welding Certification (required)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Able to issue and follow up on non-conformances until the close-out
• Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management
• Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings
• Inspect weld jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications
• May also, operate testing equipment and conduct testing, (for example: Soil, concrete, or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
• Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
• Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
• Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs
• Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, test, or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component
• Record results of tests and welding inspections
• Reviews all welded products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept or reject the product
• Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, as well as occasional plant inspections

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
• Ability to read blueprints and understand, and interpret tolerances
• Computer skills: Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
• Must be able to receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions
• Must be able to work off shifts and overtime, specifically third shift (if needed) at local amusement park sites
• Must be able to work well independently and with others
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required)
