Job Profile
The company is searching for a Structural Modification Supervisor (AIT) who will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
- A minimum of 8 years of experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Be familiar with NAVSEA standard concepts and NAVSEA MIL-STD-2042, Fiber Optic Cable Topology Installation Standard Methods for Naval Ships
- Be skilled and familiar with Naval Cableway Management under MIL-STD-2003 and NAVSEAINST.9304.1D Cableway Management Systems
- Ensure strict compliance with shipboard drawings, technical guidance, and QA inspection of installed systems.
- Identify welding gear requirements to include welding consumables for multiple tasks.
- Implement shipyard operating and safety rules.
- Knowledge and understanding of WAF/Tag-Out guidelines, hot work requirements, and professional standards for structural component installation.
- Lead teams of various skill positions to include; Electricians, Engineering Technicians, Mechanics, Welders, Shipfitters, Subcontractors, and Laborers
- Maintain inventory and accountability of installation materials, tools, and test equipment as directed.
- Read and interpret Shipboard Installation Drawings (SIDs).
- Submit daily reports, maintain timesheets, complete Conditions Found Reports (CFRs), make recommendations for Liaison Action Reports (LARs), maintain inventory and accountability of installation material, tools, and test equipment Interface with Customer On-site Installation Coordinators Qualifications:
- Typically reports to a Project/Program Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Be able to obtain access to Shipyard and Government installations.
- Be available and willing to travel up to 10% of the time
- Proficiency in handling and termination of CAT5/6 cable
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Project, Excel, and Office to develop and update schedules and cost requirements.
- Strong knowledge and experience of Maritime electrical systems and structural components, WAF/Tag-Out guidelines, and professional standards installing fiber optic, electrical, and electronic parts, including hardware in housings or assemblies.
- The ability to obtain or maintain an active Secret clearance.
- The ability to work in Newport News, VA.
Desired Qualifications
- An active Secret Clearance
- Structural team lead experience (AIT)
- Surface shipboard installation welding experience in the following is highly preferred – FCAWW, SMAW including Stainless, GMAW including AL, GTAW including AL/STL, Plasma cutting, and Oxy Acetylene
