Job Profile

The company is hiring a Structural Welder who will perform functions like interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tools and metals, measuring, and assembling metal pieces, using cutting tools, determining gas ratios, drilling holes, and monitoring inventory.

Be able to always observe health and safety regulations and report any issues to your Foreman.

Educational Qualification

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Work Experience

  • Must have 3 years of verifiable experience as a Welder in Industrial Construction
  • Perform and pass visual 2G, 3G, and 4G weld tests (bend test will also be performed). (Welding 1/2″ Carbon Plate Flux Core with 309 wire).

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Can communicate effectively with team members, management, and supervisors.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Interpreting specifications and blueprints accurately.
  • Must be able to set up and/or troubleshoot welding machines as needed.
  • Preparing metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage.
  • Proper PPE must be worn at all times and adhere to all safety rules/regulations.
  • Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications.
  • Weld along vertical, horizontal, or overhead weld lines.
  • Work on elevated surfaces such as scaffolding, on top of units, in boiler systems, 100+ feet, and in confined spaces.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be available to travel continuously throughout the US to jobs (IAFD pays for travel).
  • Must be willing to work with and around insulation including installation as needed.
  • Sound understanding of welding safety.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screen (no felonies within the last 7 years)

Working Conditions

  • Inside Power Plants/Industrial environment.
  • Require a large amount of standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and walking constantly.
  • May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 100 lbs.
  • Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
