Job Profile

The company is looking for a Tank Welder who will be responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials at facilities or construction sites, using appropriate equipment.

Education Level

• Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Welder using Flux Core (FCAW) and Stick (SMAW)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Welding

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist with fit-up and preparation of welding joints, prying, grinding hammering
• Check welded surfaces and structures for flaws by testing and inspecting them
• Communicate with field leadership regarding issues, and concerns with the job site, safety, quality, your own, or others.
• Comply with all HMT and client safety policies and procedures.
• Efficiently produce quality welds
• Keep equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Must have reliable transportation
• Perform or assist with post weld clean up, stripping fit up gear, grinding, wire wheeling
• Prepare the appropriate welding/cutting equipment based on the required procedure
• Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions to weld components
• Use tape measure, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces to align components
• Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to pass 2G/3G/4G weld test in Flux Core and Stick Welding
• TWIC Card (Current or In Progress)
• Travel is required (75%+)

Preferred Qualifications

• Agility, professionalism, and close attention to detail
• Excellent knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing, such as face-shield and gloves
• Experience with cutting torch and arc gouging
• Good ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Must meet all criteria for a Class B Welder
• Professional Certification, such as an AWS welding certificate, will be a bonus or In Progress)
• Solid experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures, such as Flux Core and Stick able to use the automatic welding equipment The Goat and the 3 o’clock
• Solid experience using electrical or manual tools, such as saws, squares, calipers, and so on
• Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
