Job Profile
The company is looking for a Terminal Operator (Cement Plant) who will maintain the cement terminal in a neat and orderly manner.
Responsible for monitoring all trucks being received into inventory to ensure no leakage is taking place and that customer trucks are loaded in a clean orderly manner.
Monitor all systems for changes and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Experience in plant operations (a plus)
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Be able to direct inbound trucks to unloading bays and assist carriers as needed
- Be able to operate a forklift, skid steer, and manlift
- Check and maintain all equipment in the work area
- Equipment inclusive of compressors, valves, gearboxes, air slides, blowers, etc.
- Handle problems as they arise
- Keep scale clean both above and around load cells as well as the unloading bays
- Learning and being able to troubleshoot our ticketing system is a plus
- Load and weigh out cement tankers and use computers in the control room
- Perform other duties and special projects as required
- Unplug the feeder and hoppers and clear the sticking gate when needed
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to operate a forklift, skid steer, man lift
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Ability to perform some welding; perform cutting and heating with Oxygen & Acetylene equipment a plus
- Bilingual a plus
- Computer skills are a plus
- Must be able to work non-traditional hours as needed
- Must have excellent work and safety record
- Must understand lock-out procedures
- Ability to adapt and adjust as situations occur
- Ability to work a rotating schedule
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs and work at heights (150’ and up)
- Ability to handle steel, machine parts, and tools weighing up to 80 lbs. and assist others with this work
- Ability to run jackhammer, bobcat, shovel, and wheelbarrow; lance and hand tools
- Ability to work a rotating/changing shift as needed
- Able to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems, or relate same to others
- Capability of working for long periods in extreme heat and dusty areas, confined spaces, and heights
- Carry 50 lbs. minimum of 50 feet, 5 times per day
- Climb ladders, steps, and inclined walks minimum of 2 hours per day
- Climb up to 200-300 feet above ground on catwalks or platforms
- Communicate in person or by radio minimum of 2 hours per day
- Lift 75 lbs. three times per day, floor to waist level
- Must work outside in all weather conditions: heat, cold, dust, and wet a minimum of 8 hours per day. Work in high noise level areas while wearing proper PPE
- Stooping, bending, and kneeling a minimum of 25 times per day
- Walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways, and catwalks throughout the workday
Working Conditions
- Works in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, ice, rain, and high humidity, and is required to work in all plant environments.
- Be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights
- May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDSs)
