Job Profile

The company is looking for a Tool Room Hand to join its team.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Experience

  • Piping and tester assembly, basic botting, and tore experience
  • Completes the necessary training and safety requirements per Smith Industries, LLC company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Climbs ladders or works on scaffolding as required.
  • Collect and inspect tools to ensure they are in proper condition.
  • Dismantles metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment.
  • Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Issue tools, equipment, and supplies to employees as needed.
  • Keeps work area clean by practicing good housekeeping procedures.
  • Performs any task, assignment, or project assigned by the Supervisor or lead welder.
  • Properly maintains all parts and equipment related to specific work duties.
  • Reports any problems promptly to the Supervisor.
  • Request new tools or supplies when inventory is low.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Above-average communication and organizational skills
  • Above all, must be a team player with the high level of dedication

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand/walk up to 90% of the workday
  • Occasional bending, squatting, ascending ladders/stairways, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • The ability to assess weights and judge distance and heights is necessary.
