Job Profile

The company is seeking a Tooling Project Engineer who will lead the management and implementation of all project requirements/goals and engineering changes necessary to meet Drive Automotive’s Project targets.

Responsible for collecting data and information to assess changes required to the product related to their assigned module.

Support the Launch Teams for new products and tools and equipment. Identifying, reporting, or implementing opportunities for Continuous Improvements (CI).

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical related discipline (college/university) or 10 years related automotive experience with a sound understanding of BIW build fit and function.
  • Must have an understanding in the following areas, die/die process, assembly tooling, welding and sealer applications, CMM and datum alignment, data processing and reporting, and customer tolerancing concepts.

Work Experience

  • Possess previous project/program management experience (required)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • 5S is responsible for the workstation and department.
  • Corrective action team member.
  • Ensure all PPAP requirements are met due to any process change.
  • Ensure feasibility studies and team reviews are completed as per engineering procedures.
  • Prepare business case studies for investment.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation in the system.
  • Responsible for updating Control Plans, FMEAs, Work Instructions, and maintaining an updated status list for parts assigned, regularly attending, and managing meetings supporting the APQP process
  • Support audits.
  • Support cost down/lean/continuous improvement activities as defined by engineering.
  • Work closely with all supporting departments to ensure support and planning agreements.
  • Work closely with sales, accounting, and purchasing departments, Tier 2 suppliers, and tooling vendors to ensure commercial needs are met in conjunction with engineering changes.
  • Work closely with the Project team to identify issues affecting feasibility, cost, project timing, part quality, and milestones in the program for part supply up to and through SO
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to define problems through solid root cause analysis with data/information collection, establish factual information, and determine a path to resolution.

Work Environment

  • Office environment: 30% sitting at a desk; 70% walking
  • Stoop and lift parts as required up to 20 lbs.
