Job Profile
The company is looking for a Tooling Technician III who will support manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all facilities and manufacturing equipment in a safe and orderly fashion as directed by the maintenance area/shift leader.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
- Schooling is required – Skill Trades Progression or related program
Work Experience
- 3 years of experience in related field
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in dimensional improvements requiring tooling shim moves to improve part quality.
- Assists in the implementation and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, performing scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required.
- Attend daily pre-shift meetings and carry out assigned workloads as directed by shift/area leaders.
- Communicate with the maintenance manager, maintenance area/shift leaders, and other plant personnel about maintenance concerns, providing complete action plans and status reports as and when required.
- Complete all work following OSHA, NEC, JIC, and DNR standards and regulations
- Complete correspondence, forms, and reports using personal computer and required software
- Handle confidential information regularly
- Leading projects, training, and mentoring Tooling Technicians I and II.
- Maintain and update equipment records, shim logs, schematics, blueprints, and files in an orderly fashion
- Maintain department repair parts stock and inventory
- Obtain and attend training for professional development and stay current on maintenance and safety requirements and other training as required.
- To work in a safe, quality-minded, and productive manner with a sense of urgency to achieve maintenance deadlines and to attain production priorities as scheduled.
- Troubleshoot and repair problems on plant facilities and production equipment of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues.
- May be required to adjust shifts as necessary.
- Supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
- Work with all shifts in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
- Works with vendors or contractors, displaying company values of honesty and integrity.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as appropriate.
- Ability to apply advanced troubleshooting
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Fabrication and mechanical skills
- Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups.
- Ability to effectively execute complex CNC programming.
- Ability to obtain and hold a boom/scissor lift license.
- Ability to obtain and hold a fork truck license.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, equipment instructions, requirements, and business correspondences.
- Computer proficiency, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Must be proficient in bench repair, design tooling fabrication and assembly, machinery upkeep, layout, inspection, quality control, fixture building, welding, drilling, tapping sizing, fitting parts, and heat treating.
- Must be proficient in using Lathes, Milling Machines, Grinders, Drill Presses, and Saws.
- Must exhibit high integrity and honesty.
- Must have good organizational skills.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 40 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, or walking.
- Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
- Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical and other environmental hazards.
Environment Conditions
- Exposed regularly to elements such as temperature and noise.
- Must be able to rotate working shifts and weekend overtime to meet department requirements with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the manufacturing plant.
- Must be comfortable with working at heights and within confined spaces.
- Safety precautions are to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.

- Cooperate with all local, state, and federal agencies, such as OSHA or the EPA, in the event of an inspection.
- Know and follow all applicable EH&S Policies and Procedures.
- Support a safe and healthful work environment that is free of recognized hazards for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Support and comply with all TS16949 & ISO14001 procedures and work instructions.
