Job Profile

The company is hiring a Mechanic Transport who will perform maintenance and repair of various types of flatbed trailers in Company shops, on public roadways, job sites, and customer’s yards as necessary.

Maximize equipment availability using efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs.

Education Level

• High School Diploma (preferred)

Work Experience

• 3 years of related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Mechanical Experience
• ASE certifications are a plus

Duties/Responsibilities

• Communicate with drivers and plant managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices
• Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental, and other Company policies, procedures, and requirements
• Create work orders on repairs and services providing legible and accurate information for work performed
• Diagnose air brake air ride and lighting issues and perform mechanical repairs and maintenance to various types of trailers including but not limited to aluminum and steel trailers, dock height, and drop deck.
• Drive Company service truck to perform road calls, mobile maintenance
• Input daily repair reports into a software-based tracking program. SAP
• May assist in the maintenance and repair of fixed equipment
• Operate fixed and mobile equipment as necessary
• Perform routine brake inspections/adjustments on commercial vehicles following Federal DOT requirements.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance services and DOTs and fill out accompanying paperwork
• Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Must have own tools up to 1¼”
• CDL Class A (a plus but not required)
• Able to understand, interpret, communicate, and execute with exact instructions given in both verbal and written form
• Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus

Working Conditions

• Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
• Must wear protective equipment while at the location
• No smoking or tobacco use of any kind on the premises
• No cell phone use while working

Physical Requirements

• Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
• Exerting 10-20 pounds of force continually
• Exerting 25-50 pounds of force frequently
• Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, or pulling controls
• Must pass physical to include back x-ray, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screen
• Must wear protective equipment while on the job
• Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
• Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, communicate with employees/visitors
