Job Profile
The company is hiring a Universal Aggregate Operator who will be responsible for operating various pieces of equipment (i.e. dragline, crusher, wet plant, loader) and maintaining consistent production levels. While operating, the loader will efficiently load a variety of materials in varying ground conditions.
Responsibilities will also include performing high levels of maintenance and machine servicing and identifying problems with the material being mined for quality.
Be required to maintain a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work area.
A strong background in Aggregate Operations with an emphasis on strong dragline maintenance/repair skills.
Must be flexible and willing to transition from one position to another.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dragline operations
- Experience as a heavy equipment operator including loaders, bulldozers, off-road trucks, and excavators.
- Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers, and various other types of fixed and mobile equipment used in the aggregate industry.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Accurately judge distance and surrounding work areas (i.e. distance to load hopper)
- Comply with operating practices and procedures, safety rules, and regulations per MSHA regulations.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections of all equipment being operated, including dragline, to identify any safety hazards or maintenance requirements (i.e. fuel, grease, etc.)
- Conduct required pre/post trip inspections and submit daily vehicle/equipment inspection reports.
- Follow safe practices and all CalPortland Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with supervisors, customers, and coworkers to help ensure a smooth operation.
- Operation of dragline 7 cubic yards or larger safely and efficiently to achieve production goals.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the dragline and all other aggregate equipment, including lubrication, inspection, and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Safely and efficiently operate aggregate equipment, this includes housekeeping and maintaining a clean work area.
- Completes and maintains Method 9 Emissions certification
- Understand the process flow of the plant and be diligent in producing quality sand and gravel material.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to work extended hours, including weekends (i.e. 12-hour workdays).
- Current MSHA Training Certification.
- Knowledge of the equipment and methods used in the production process, and related aspects of materials storage, handling, and distribution of aggregates.
- Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to work.
- Must have effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Safely and efficiently operate aggregate equipment.
- The work environment may include moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and moderate to loud noises, requiring the consistent use of appropriate PPE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Willing to provide own tools typically used in Aggregate Operations
- Experience welding and cutting.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift or move 75 pounds on a routine basis, and 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, drive, ride, twist, push/pull controls, and ride on rough terrain.
- Able to work in wet or dry conditions and extreme heat or cold.
