Job Profile
The company is searching for a Weld Engineer who will develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment (manual and robotic) to problems involving the fabrication of metals.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a college or university or an equivalent qualification
- American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) or equivalent preferred.
Work Experience
- The candidates should have 4 to 10 years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Robotics experience is preferred.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
- Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or correlate and substantiate hypotheses.
- Contacts personnel of other agencies, engineering personnel, or clients to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning welding matters.
- Defines operational process sequences, production facilities, layouts, tooling/fixtures, establishes labor time standards.
- Define, justify, and implement capital projects.
- Directs, trains, and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers’ compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.
- Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre-and post-heating requirements which involve the use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.
- Evaluate new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes. Including robotics.
- Must be able to perform and participate in a team environment.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
- Prepares technical reports as a result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.
- Review, understand and analyze product costing deviations and develop action plans for improvement.
- Supports Lean Manufacturing, 5S activities, and Kaizen events
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of formal problem-solving methods along with experience with financial controls and product costing.
- Possesses technical process knowledge on automating weld techniques to conform to ASME standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint); Internet software and E-mail is required.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and procedures

- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
