Job Profile

The company is searching for a Welding Engineer who will own the welding quality and welding troubleshooting in Body Structures and Closures components and sub-assemblies.

Collaborate with other manufacturing areas and the engineering teams to support the vehicle program. Support all phases of the build and validation.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology from a university or college

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have 5 to 10 years of joining product development experience
  • Experience in welding AHSS and HSB materials
  • Experience with RSW, MIG/MAG, DAW, and Laser welding

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Contribute input and support to the material and joining specifications
  • Lead and plan the Body Structures and Closure test activities for hardware, components, and sub-assemblies for all phases of the program (test activities are but not limited to corrosion, fatigue, strength, and crash)
  • Manage the above deliverables for all program milestones including cost and timing
  • Participate and support design reviews and build reviews
  • Support design for quality activities
  • Support joining technologies and materials characterization through testing
  • Support supplier and material selection process with an interface to purchasing and supplier engagement
  • Work closely with our integrators and production to ensure proper joining methodologies are being used, and root cause failure modes for ongoing quality improvements.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Good knowledge of BiW architecture and construction
  • Strong joint and coupon testing experience
  • Understanding of vehicle requirements
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time

Physical Requirements

  • Employees may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time, occasionally bending or stooping, lifting up to 10 pounds, and prolonged periods of computer use.
