Job Profile
The company is searching for a Weld Engineer Technician who will help coordinate and organize production process methods and engineering activities that enable production. This includes sustaining engineering, new product launch processes, and continuous improvement activities.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining production processes to drive quality and efficiency and establish manufacturing plans to improve operations competitiveness.
Education Level
- Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus
Work Experience
- Experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in the GMAW welding process in a manufacturing environment. Experience with welding automation (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for Capital planning, CER creations and Approvals, Capital Project Timing and Implementation, Capital Spending, and Budgeting/Assumes responsibility for Plant VA/VE Savings
- Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for and as an integral part of, all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology
- Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training, and project reviews including PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP), Lean Tools, Project Management, and Simultaneous Engineering
- Ensures all equipment meets OSHA-compliant safety regulations
- Manages, develops, and improves manufacturing standards including machine capability, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings, and cycle times.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to quickly assess manufacturing issues related to design and tolerancing.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand welding symbols.
- Knowledge of basic design and manufacturing datum development and its effect on manufacturing processes.
