Job Profile

The company is looking for a Weld Inspector who will be responsible for the weld inspection of parts from the fab shop. Additional duties within the quality organization, as required.

Reviews and reports performance data to management, with the expectation of accuracy.

May interface with production and fab shop representatives.

Serve as an individual contributor for the Quality Department (reporting directly to the QA Supervisor).

Education Level

  • Requires a High School Diploma with 6 years of prior quality/inspection experience
  • 2 years post-secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior quality/inspection experience

Work Experience

  • Possess work-related experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Able to read Calipers and general metrology equipment.
  • Able to read drawings and understand standard drawing symbols.
  • Assignments are moderately difficult, requiring some judgment.
  • Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach an agreement.
  • Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection.
  • Ensures raw materials meet company and test standards.
  • Follows established processes to complete tasks.
  • Fully proficient support individual contributors.
  • Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations. Resolves most issues.
  • Interprets drawings, diagrams, specifications, and lists to approve or reject units.
  • Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required.
  • Maintains support documentation of inspected parts.
  • May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise.
  • Processing non-conformance items in the system (CostPoint or TipQA).
  • Responsible for performing weld inspections, tests, or audits of purchased parts, units, materials, equipment, and quality control programs to specifications.
  • Work is of moderate scope, typically on larger, task-related activities.
  • Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures.
  • Works directly with the Production and Fabrication shop to provide required defect details.
  • Works to achieve operational targets within the job area which has a moderate impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.
  • Works under limited supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to read and interpret manufacturing drawings to ensure the accuracy of the completed build.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, with a focus on Excel.
