Job Profile
The company is seeking a Weld Material Handler who will be responsible for maintaining, organizing, and stocking the weld cells with the various parts required to build weldments.
Also, ensure that parts are being moved to and from the correct location while paying attention to item counts and basic quality checks.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
- 21 years of age or older
Work Experience
- Material handling experience (3-5 years preferred, not required)
- Overhead Crane/Forklift experience (2-3 years preferred, not required)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining and organizing paint areas to ensure continuous workflow.
- Create, complete, and maintain any required computer transactions, paperwork, documents, etc.
- Ensure work responsibilities are completed daily, including working overtime as needed.
- Following weld operations, move complete weldments to and from inspection areas.
- Helps drive and support BCT’s Culture and Core Values.
- Helps other departments as needed to meet deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area with the ability to operate lifting equipment safely and responsibly.
- Operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count material.
- Pack or crate completed parts, assemblies, or components for shipment to customers following conventional packaging practices appropriate for the situation as needed.
- Participate in annual physical inventories.
- Perform routine inspections on forklift trucks to ensure safe operating conditions.
- Transport raw materials, parts, and components to their proper locations to ensure organization and efficiency.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Others Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for long periods of time
- Class D valid license
- Clean Driving Record
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Must pass a forklift certification test – both written and behind the wheel
Work Environment
- This job operates in a factory environment.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is often loud enough to require hearing protection.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit and use foot/feet to operate machinery.
- Regularly talk and listen, climb or balance, and reach above shoulders.
- Frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and move from place to place.
- Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver several hundred pounds a short distance.
- Frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
- Frequently use material handling equipment, such as forklifts and cranes, as well as motor vehicles.
